My Experience

My career has given me many opportunities to provide support and knowledge to young people facing many different circumstances. Taking me to various places, each bringing different challenges.

Youth Justice Work

I worked for 8 years across different youth offending teams. Here I met young people particularly challenged with how their lifestyles had affected their schooling, leaving them struggling to cope, causing them to underperform, develop unhealthy associations and live below their best.

Care Work

A key factor I came across while working in the care system was the lack of belief a lot of the young people had because of the inner pain and rejection. After many years of practice, I found I have a strong gift of encouragement as well as an ability to engage the most closed off and hardest to reach young people.

Mentoring in Schools

I was incredibly fortunate to spend 3 years as part of the country's first ever mentoring service within schools (NMPP). This was a very successful and well-liked program. Through this, I helped numerous young people who were struggling academically to get the best out of their time in school.
